SUMMARY:
Nicardipine is a calcium channel blocker used for the short-term treatment of hypertension and chronic stable angina.
INDICATION:
Used for the management of patients with chronic stable angina and for the treatment of hypertension.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
Absorption : Rapidly administered via IV.
Distribution : Widely distributed; crosses the blood-brain barrier.
Metabolism : Primarily metabolized in the liver.
Elimination: Renal excretion of metabolites.
Protein Binding: Approximately 95% bound to plasma proteins.
Half Life: Approximately 5-10 hours.
MECHANISM OF ACTION:
Calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium ion influx across cell membranes, leading to vasodilation.
PHARMACODYNAMICS:
